Ep. 110 - Researching New Plants

Chill 'n Chat

Not long ago, the Plant Daddies discussed how many houseplants is too many,

and if memory serves, they felt like they had enough... so what happened last weekend? A plant sale to benefit a couple of their favorite local plant organizations! They each pick a new plant to share, discuss their geeky research so far, and use each other as additional resources - but who's growing the caudiciform Gesneriad, and who picked up an uncommon flowering shrub? Then, it's time for a listener question about aerial roots!

Mentioned in this episode:

  • community plant sales to benefit local plant clubs and societies

  • unusual collectors plants - not necessarily rare, but not commonly found for sale in plant shops

  • how we approach learning about and growing a new plant before or after we bring it home

And a special thank you to the photographers who took these photos!

The following photos are the specimens from Matthew’s collection, but sadly, the Impatiens is no longer with him. Maybe he can get a replacement cutting from Stephen!
